Our Y6 children are studying ‘Britain at War’ this term, and we are very grateful that Grace’s family kindly lent her some World War 2 artefacts to share in our History lesson in 6EW. The children were able to try on the soldier's helmets, look at a gas mask in its box and some small bibles provided for soldiers serving in the war. The children were amazed at the weight of the helmets, and looked at the gas mask in its box issued to many civilians. They were also surprised to learn that we couldn’t touch the mask or take it out of the box as the filters used in the respiratory masks contained asbestos before they knew it could be harmful.  #engageandinspire #nurtureandgrowth #prideandjoy
