Y6 - DESIGN TECHNOLOGY

Our Y6 children have loved their DT topic, designing, making and evaluating a three-course meal over November and December. They have cooked and blended soup, kneaded and prepared pizzas with a variety of toppings and baked a delicious apple and berry crumble with custard. The children researched seasonal fruits and vegetables, looked at the cost of the meals and their history, as well as learning about food hygiene, how to increase recipes using ratios and how to taste and evaluate their meals using descriptive words. They have learnt knife skills, chopping skills, peeling skills, weighing skills, kneading skills and how to use an oven safely and how to wash up and clear their workstations! When they weren’t cooking their dishes, they were making digibooks about recipes or creating a logo for their pop-up restaurants! #engageandinspire #nurtureandgrowth #prideandjoy
